HOTELS & RESTAURANTS, beyond mainstream

Lucarelli – Harvey Nichols, Knightsbridge by Flair Studio, a Dining and Design Experience

The London-based design and architecture practice Flair Studio conveys through original bespoke projects a young and dynamic approach. Such an attitude is evident in all the works signed by Flair Studio, might it be a hotel, a restaurant, a retail structure or a residence. This multidisciplinary methodology aimed at combining cultures, arts and ideas from different fields is thus a hallmark of the studio.

Although being a young design firm, it can rely on the extensive experience of Federico Schilling, the Founder and Director of Flair Studio since 2019. Federico’s dedication to quality high-end design and his passion for craftsmanship infuses every project with a specific narrative. A remarkable example is provided by the recently completed Italian restaurant for Lucarelli and award-winning chef Aldo Zilli, located on the top floor of the luxury department store Harvey Nichols in Knightsbridge, London.

In this context, the central narrative that has guided all the process, from design to completion, has been that of creating an open garden. For this reason, every single element, from the choice of lights and materials to the finish, has been selected to meet the garden imagery. And not only this. In order to further captivate the clients of the restaurant with a great sense of arrival, Flair Studio collaborated with mosaicist Giulia Manzoni, who designed a custom mosaic piece, namely a tondo artistico expressing the Italian heritage of the Lucarelli brand.

To guarantee privacy and comfort to all the clients with separate areas, the interior space is articulated by a series of arches, sometimes covered by foliage plants, sometimes enriched with decorative lights and pieces of art. Together with Lucarelli and Harvey Nichols, the studio led by Federico Schilling has crafted a real journey, from the arrival, through the lounge area and the open kitchen. This latter has been projected as a theater where to celebrate the importance of food. This is why it has been designed as open as possible into the main room and with a flame oven for pizza always in operation.

In addition to designing the spaces and the narrative path through them, Flair Studio has also been responsible for coordinating the consultants and the main contractor, in addition to all direct orders. In short, a work done at 360 º to offer a dining and design experience.
