The design approach of Casa Raízes perfectly reflects the character of this firm suspended between Italy and Brazil – two offices, two cultures with which to come to grips, and the pursuit of a balance between stylistically distant inspirations.

The extreme flexibility of Casa Raízes and its way of opening to various impressions, adapting to the identity of the place and the client, can be directly seen in their projects, which are often the result of bold harmoniously orchestrated contaminations.

An ideal representation of this concept can be found in the residential project created by the studio at Belo Horizonte, a Brazilian metropolis also known as a ‘garden city’ due to the vivid presence of greenery. Nature, with its regenerative and calming force, seems to cross the walls of the building, contributing to shape its interior design, which echoes an Asian, minimalist attitude without overlooking accents of typical local design.

Gentle shades of white, gray and wood convey an overall sense of serenity and wellbeing in the house, organized around the warm, luminous lounge area. Here the perimeter frame features Brazilian wood paneling from a sustainable source, with the exception of a wall in terracotta finished in a soft brown color, to contain an accessorised living room system (with a bookcase and a TV stand), again in wood.

At the center, the pale sofa in an L-shaped configuration becomes the focal point of the setting and of the social activities taking place around it. Chairs, tables and decorative elements evoke traditional and modern material effects, emphasized by the artificial lighting carefully concealed in the suspended ceilings, and by the natural light arriving from full-height windows, in an ongoing dialogue with the world outside.
The encounter between Paloma Architects and Legance dates back to 2017, when the architecture firm was hired to design the interiors of the new Milan headquarters of the law office, inside the historic Palazzo Aliverti at Via Broletto 20.
