The encounter between Paloma Architects and Legance dates back to 2017, when the architecture firm was hired to design the interiors of the new Milan headquarters of the law office, inside the historic Palazzo Aliverti at Via Broletto 20. Today their collaboration continues in the Legance offices contained in the building on the opposite side of the street (number 9). Once again, Paloma Architects has handled the preliminary design, the definitive design and the worksite supervision.
The main characteristic of the space in Palazzo Aliverti is the absolute indoor-outdoor fusion, thanks to a spectacular courtyard around which to develop the architecture, faced by the meeting rooms and offices. The same principle has been applied in the new project, thanks to an impressive light well at the center of the building, topped by a skylight to bring natural brightness inside, enhancing the five above-ground levels and reaching down to the basement set aside for fitness and recreation, and for storage (a total of 4500 sqm).
The five floors contain the reception zone, a clients’ area, offices, meeting rooms, auxiliary spaces, meeting areas and even a restaurant: facilities pervaded by light, which thanks to the abundant use of glass – for full-height windows, dividers, parapets – spreads easily, boosted by the white color that dominates the atmosphere. The spatial arrangement and the furnishings are emphasized, relying on a contemporary style, but with an accent on comfort. Notes of color, fabrics and finishes have the job of generating rhythm and dynamism in a context of sober elegance. Where the natural lighting stops, artificial systems are channeled to create vivid geometric compositions.
The dialogue with the outside and with nature culminates on the terrace: another space for interaction, wrapped in vegetation and surrounded by characteristic metal railings, in a tribute to Milanese architecture.
The social role of architecture as a place and a means of encounter, a forge of creativity and avant-garden, is investigated by the Bologna-based studio Rizoma Architetture, so as to turn such notions into concrete and innovative projects.
Since 2005, the year in which Giacomo De Amicis founded deamicisarchitetti, the Italian studio gives rise to projects that combine memories and contemporaneity. Its specific language, which is composed of advanced criteria of environmental sustainability, comfort, technology and attention to the context, applies to the most diverse areas.
