From Pavilion to Street, A Story of Maison&Objet

Design Courier had the pleasure of joining Maison&Objet as a Media Partner from January 14 to 19, 2026, immersing itself in an edition that hovered delicately between echoes of the past and visions of the future.

Walking through the halls of Paris Nord Villepinte, one could feel a shared breath: that of those who love to observe, touch, and imagine. “Past Reveals Future” was more than a theme – it was a lens through which every object, every installation, every space told a story.

At the entrance, In Materia welcomed visitors with the scent of wood and earth, the texture of stone, the coolness of glass. People moved among pedestals and worktables as if stepping into a suspended workshop: fingers grazing fibers, eyes tracing curves, children’s small hands brushing alongside those of experienced designers. A silent dialogue unfolded – some took notes, some captured photographs, others simply stood still, absorbed by a sculpture of light or a familiar object transformed into art.

Through the corridors of WHAT’S NEW?, time seemed to bend: one era met another, a room recounted the codes of a hotel of the future, another corner suggested retail scenarios where physical and digital merged. Every step invited pause, observation, and reflection. Visitors became explorers, alert and curious, drawn into visions that hovered between dream and reality.

Beyond the pavilions, the city itself flowed inside. Maison&Objet In the City animated the most elegant streets of Paris: a cocktail in a Montaigne Avenue apartment, a conversation with young designers in a tucked-away showroom, a subtle surprise behind every gallery door. The streets became corridors of creativity. Every space revealed a different world: furniture that seemed to breathe, objects speaking of distant lands, lights playing with scale and shadow. Visitors navigated this living map, following intuition and curiosity, encountering talent and collectors, talking, debating, laughing, and envisioning new projects.

The sounds of footsteps, low conversations, the clinking of glasses, the smell of materials, the reflections of metal and glass: all contributed to a sensitive ecosystem. There was no hierarchy – just chance and intention intertwining, weaving connections between hands, eyes, and ideas. Every hall, every apartment, every street of the city became a microcosm, where the present was already past, and the future was quietly forming under the eyes of those willing to notice.

Maison&Objet was never just a fair, and In the City was never merely a B2B route: they were living spaces full of anticipation and wonder. Visitors moved between halls and streets like elements of a pulsating organism, where every gesture, glance, and conversation fed the collective energy. Time seemed to fold softly over Paris, a quiet rhythm carrying visitors from hall to street, from gallery to showroom. The ecosystem pulsed with anticipation and intimacy, alive with gestures, glances, and ideas.
