Nestled between the pine forest and the sea, the two new residences of Villa Ala Anita and Villa Ala Bianca at the Augustus Hotel & Resort in Forte dei Marmi offer a synthesis of exceptional destination and five-star services. Elegance, comfort, and total immersion in the beauty of nature make it a place to gateway and pause from the everyday. The same concept of escape and ease is found in the interiors of the Villa Ala project, curated by the international architecture and design studio De.Tales. Linear surfaces, delicate shades, custom pieces, all inspired by the decorative style of the 1920s. In short, a true apotheosis of well-being.

A New York apartment with a traditional past and a modern present, entirely rewritten by the interior design firm Foley & Cox. Located in Park Avenue, this family residence has been tailored for a dynamic lifestyle, crafted by combining two apartments – that however seem as if they have always been one – featuring a classic style with surprising contemporary twists. The thoughtful progression of spaces, from living quarters dedicated to rest to those for entertainment, results in an experiential journey enhanced by the careful selection of furnishings, decorative elements, and sculptural lighting.

Roberto Bertoli Architetto

In every project by Roberto Bertoli Architetto, light shapes the spaces, while the context, the interpretation of the place, and the needs of people determine the content. A design philosophy that is evident in the Home House project, a ‘machine for living’ inspired by the principles of Hard Edge, a movement in American painting characterized by the use of complementary colors and sharply defined geometric shapes. Therefore, the Home House can be described as a dialogue between opposites – full and empty, light and dark – where the distinct volumes are deconstructed by flows and natural light.

The design philosophy of the Vertical Forest returns in a renewed form in the latest buildings designed by Stefano Boeri Architetti for New Cairo, Egypt. A grand and functional mix, in full Boeri style, of residences and commercial spaces, distributed in three tall cubes, where nature remains the central core. With its 350 trees and over 14,000 shrubs and evergreens belonging to 100 different species, the Vertical Forest represents a model of integrating living nature into architectural design. Added to this is another virtuous element, namely the challenge to pollution: the over 3,600 square meters of vegetation function as a green screen capable of filtering sunlight, fine particles, and carbon dioxide.

Piazza Giglio Campese on Isola del Giglio, Tuscany, is an urban meeting space defined by specific urban furniture elements and green spaces. As we see it today, it is the result of the redevelopment work carried out by Studio Next, which traced back the recent past of the area. The generating lines of the ground design start from the ideal contour lines of the foreshore, while the sinuous design of the contour lines deforms and adapts to the presence of new buildings. The washed concrete paving follows the Santafiora stone guidelines that describe the square, which sometimes open up to make room for green flowerbeds, benches, and covered areas.

Henry Hill, a renowned architect of post-war modernism and a pioneer of the movement in the California Bay Area, was once the owner of this residence. And although the house is now inhabited by new landlords, it has remained a milestone in the collective imagination. This is why the task entrusted to Studio Schicketanz of preserving its architectural integrity while meeting modern needs was particularly delicate. Yet, the challenge has been successfully met: today, the home stands as a layered complex infused with history, yet aligned with the highest performance standards. While the exterior envelope has been maintained, the interior has indeed been refined with material finishes and carefully studied lighting.

An open-air museum, a cradle of ancient art and history, a place of intense beauty. But also a city rich in contemporary influences, with recent culture, fashion, and modern architecture. In the restoration project of 27 apartments for short-term rentals in Rome, the THDP studio kept in mind all the different facets of Rome, adopting a microlocal language infused with the culture of each single context. The result is a unique, eclectic, and scattered project, held together by the red thread of beauty and total immersion in the charm of the eternal city.

Located within La Palma building at 2101 Galiano Street – a historic Mediterranean-style space designed in 1924 by architect H. George Fink – the Bouchon Coral Gables project confirms the collaboration between the culinary excellence of Chef Thomas Keller and the design excellence of Tihany. A piece of Paris in America, in full 'Bouchon' style, the interiors transport us to a real French brasserie. Distinctive features include the hand-painted mural by artist Paulin Paris, a French pewter bar, a lively mosaic floor with hand-painted cement tiles, antique lamps, and the McGuire Grand Café dining chair collection by Tihany.

Located on the outskirts of Forlì, Italy, in a context of monotony and devoid of any specific or architectural identity, the Sidera project – the new CIA Conad Headquarters – developed by tissellistudioarchitetti stands out as a unique and valuable entity. A beacon on themes of innovation and environmental responsibility, surrounded by the green of the local territory, Sidera is a model of neuro-architecture. Its design, characterized by natural light, controlled quality air, and comfortable acoustics, indeed provides the best possible work environment. Thus, air, light, sounds, scents, and colours enter the building and integrate into it as architectural components.

A fifteenth-century aristocratic residence translated into an Art Hotel where history and contemporaneity converse in unison. The project, curated by Vudafieri Saverino Partners, concerns the structure of Lasserrhaus, in the heart of Bressanone, South Tyrol, where the family of owners requested that the first two floors be converted into a 4-star superior hotel, while the top two into private residences. And so it happened: today Lasserrhaus lives a second precious life, thanks also to the integration of the family’s classical painting collection with a careful study of contemporary works and finishes. As architects Tiziano Vudafieri and Claudio Saverino recount, “Our project does not neglect the traditional soul of this ancient building, instead managing to respectfully and somewhat subtly dialogue with it and enrich it with contemporary languages and materials. In this way, Lasserrhaus has become a small yet important new part of the city's urban life and its propensity for hospitality”.
