In the weave of time

The creations of Karpeta are a bridge between past and present, a hybrid of traditional weaving techniques and a contemporary language. Karpeta  comes to life in an unexpected territory, namely Reggio Calabria, far from the traditional districts of design that have made craftsmanship, manufacturing and industry into a true Italian trademark. Away from such busy zones, Karpeta delicately and discreetly enters the world of interior design, with an innovative vision that has rapidly gained acclaim, thanks to intensive aesthetic research in a precise balance of tradition and modernity. The brand’s identity embodies an echo of the atmospheres of its homeland in the deep south, a region full of impressions, suspended between mythology and reality, in the renowned legacy of Magna Graecia.

The founder Daniele Morabito has made this heritage into a strong point, transferring the same sense of cultural contamination and exploration into the weaves of his carpets, conserving age-old techniques of handiwork, but also opening the way for contemporary creations, thanks to the contribution of international designers to the creation of the collections. Inspired by his father, a collector who has passed on the passion for ornamental objects, Daniele Morabito has expanded the classic conception of the carpet: from a decorative feature to a timeless object capable of telling stories. And the Karpeta creations do this through a daring, unconventional stylistic language, representing a theatrical world of colours, forms and textures.

In this framework of constant experimentation on the potential of interior decoration, Daniele Morabito has then expanded his research to the world of surfaces: hence the founding of the brand Texturae, for wallpaper, a natural evolution of Karpeta, sharing in its narrative and aesthetic vision. The complementary interaction of the two firms has been perfectly interpreted by the dreamy, feminine gaze of the designer Sara Ricciardi, for the new Camere collection. Carpets and wallcoverings that meet a dominant theme, namely that of Nature, formulated in rural landscapes, botanical elements, mixtures of animal imagery and more, to create a total look for both residential and contract applications. The creative and innovative boundaries of the company are therefore constantly expanding, with results that make Karpeta a true case study of entrepreneurial success.
