INTERIOR & DÉCOR, but with a twist

Dainelli Studio and the harmony of opposites

A home in Milan becomes a direct reflection of the city and its atmosphere. A location in which historic heritage and avant-garde attitudes coexist in harmony. In this residence on Via Tamburini, we can see a seamless mixture of classic echoes and contemporary energies.

Dainelli Studio, in charge of the interior design, has nimbly balanced two apparently contrasting styles, giving rise to an original and fascinating combination.

The apartment is on the ground floor of a building from the 1980s: in 250 sqm, the studio founded by the duo of designer-architects Leonardo and Marzia Dainelli has shaped spaces to respond to the needs of a family, from the four bedrooms to a large garden, a private oasis in the midst of urban chaos, with an area of 600 sqm.

Past the entrance, the landing and the corridors, one enters a place of aristocratic charm, suggesting the Haussmann style that revolutionized Paris: large wall panels, mirrors, Versailles oak flooring draw us into a dimension of refined elegance, fully conveyed in the living area connected to the dining room (across a few steps with elegant brass details).

But it only takes a few features to make a bold foray into the contemporary: the resin floor in the kitchen, the tropical wallpapers and architectural lighting add vivacity to the setting, relying on daring, unexpected contrasts. The same is true of the furnishings and the decorative touches, which reflect the same ambivalence embodied in the architectural aspect. Design icons, family heirlooms, and the Faces self-produced pieces by Dainelli Studio (like sculptures in marble, ceramics, paintings) alternate with furnishings that reflect a modern spirit (from the collections of outstanding brands like Flexform, Cassina, Gallotti&Radice, Poliform, Kartell, Vitra, Boffi, Flos).

An indispensable touch of craftsmanship emerges in the products created by the two designers – bookcases with paneling, a cabinet in black-stained ash wood in the bedroom, the table in the dining area – to complete a project where expertise and inspirations constitute an ode to complementarity.
